Driving forward: Busbud and Betterez make waves at industry events in Guatemala City and Las Vegas

Busbud, a digital travel marketplace, and Betterez (now part of Terra Mobility), a platform for sales and operations management, recently participated in Bus & Coach Industry events in Guatemala City, Guatemala and Las Vegas, USA.

Both Busbud and Betterez businesses were founded in 2011 and from that point have had a spirit of giving back to the industry in which our technologies are utilized. Industry organizations and their associated conferences are a primary vehicle for giving back as well as networking, education and contributing in many other ways. Two recent events the Group participated in are highlighted here.

Cámara de Internacional de Industria de Transporte (CIT) held their 38th Assembly in Guatemala City from April 24-26. The CIT’s main objectives are to defend and watch over the interests of carriers and their representative entities, to act institutionally before private or public institutions, to promote studies for the development and improvement of the transport technology of cargo and passengers, as well as research on the economic, market, and legal transport.

TerraOS (formerly Betterez) was invited to speak on our experiences and deep knowledge of facilitating passenger travel across international borders. Justin Herten-Greaven, TerraOS Senior Project Manager, presented to the Assembly the business process and supporting technology the TerraOS platform has for collecting, validating and reporting on passenger data and documentation, and how it helps passengers, transportation companies and Country specific border security entities facilitate faster and safer international ground travel. You can check out the PowerPoint version of the presentation here.

Next, the American Bus Association’s (ABA) Hispanic Motorcoach Council held an in person session on May 21, 2024, at the Park MGM Las Vegas. Terra Mobility and Busbud have been long standing ABA members participating in annual Marketplaces and more recently as members of the ABA Women in Buses Council.

The Hispanic Motorcoach Council (HMC) event afforded us valuable networking and work session opportunities. Our discussions with the Greyhound Mexico team, responsible for managing cross-border inventory, opened doors for potential collaborations and market expansion. Additionally, meeting with our esteemed customer, Red Coach, provided a platform to explore innovative initiatives and strengthen our current partnership.

The event’s focus on operator bus safety and financing of new motor coach vehicles sparked insightful discussions, complemented by a compelling presentation. A notable highlight was the Nevada State Police’s mock inspection, conducted using a motor coach provided by Windstar Lines, offering a hands-on experience for all attendees and reinforcing the importance of safety protocols.

Furthermore, alongside the safety best practices presentation, HMC attendees delved into other industry trends and challenges.

Our HMC participation not only facilitated meaningful connections but also translated into tangible business opportunities for our Group’s customers.
