Erik Blachford Appointed Chairperson of the Board

Eight years on the board, two decades at the center of travel

Blachford's relationship with the company predates his board seat: he was an early angel investor in Busbud, the ground transportation marketplace that became the foundation of Terra Mobility, before formally joining the board in 2018. In the eight years since, he has helped guide the company's strategy through its growth from an ambitious ground travel marketplace into a global operating system for the industry.

He brings to the chair a résumé that runs through some of travel's defining companies: he served as President and CEO of Expedia, Inc., leading the online travel pioneer through a period of rapid international expansion, and has since built a career backing and advising the sector's next generation of marketplaces.

A career built across travel's biggest marketplaces

Beyond Expedia and Terra Mobility, Blachford currently sits on the boards of Zillow, the real estate marketplace; Hipcamp, the outdoor recreation marketplace; and Fora Travel, the modern travel advisory platform, which closed a $60 million Series D at a $1 billion valuation in July 2026. He has also served for years as a venture partner at growth equity investment firm TCV, sitting on the boards of travel companies including SiteMinder and TourRadar. He also sat on the board of Couchsurfing, the hospitality exchange network. Blachford was also previously CEO of Butterfield & Robinson, the luxury active travel outfitter.

Blachford's board experience spans public companies as well, including a seat on the board of Glassdoor. He currently sits on the board of the Adventure Travel Trade Association and is a member of the U.S. National Council of the World Wildlife Fund.

Blachford shared his outlook on the new role:
