Defining our values

The four values behind how Busbud builds product, hires, and treats the people who work here.

Every company says it has values. Most of the time they're a poster in a hallway nobody reads twice. When we sat down to write ours, we wanted something we'd actually use — a short list we could point to when deciding what to build, who to hire, and how to treat each other.

Going places

The people who use Busbud are, almost by definition, on their way somewhere. We wanted a company with the same restlessness — expanding into new countries, adding new routes, and pushing bus travel further into the mainstream of how people get around the world.

Independent spirit

Travel has a way of building confidence in people who do a lot of it — figuring things out on the fly, adapting to unfamiliar places, trusting your own judgment. We wanted the same instinct on the team: give people real autonomy, welcome different points of view, and expect everyone to keep learning rather than settling into a fixed way of doing things.

Sustainability

Buses are already one of the more efficient ways to move a lot of people using very little fuel per person, so promoting bus travel is itself a sustainability bet. We wanted that same mindset to show up inside the company too — in how we treat the people who work here and the kind of workplace we build, not just in the mode of transport we sell.

Super helpful

Busbud started as something close to a travel buddy — a resource for people who couldn't easily find the bus information they needed. That instinct to help is still the point: helping travelers get where they're going without friction, and helping each other do our jobs well internally.

None of these were picked because they sounded good on a slide. Each one had to be specific to how we actually work, something people would recognize both inside and outside the company, and something that connected back to why Busbud exists in the first place: to make bus travel affordable, accessible, and sustainable.
