Montreal, Canada (July 29, 2026) — Busbud, the leading global ground travel booking marketplace, today announced the formation of Terra Mobility, a new parent company created to power the next phase of the organization’s growth. Alongside the new brand, the company announced a US $40 million financing from Vista Credit Partners, the credit-investing arm of Vista Equity Partners specializing in enterprise software, along with a new Chief Financial Officer and two senior board nominations.
A new parent company brand powering the ground travel value chain
Terra Mobility brings together its two complementary business lines: leading ground travel booking consumer marketplaces (Busbud, Buson, and Recorrido), with TerraOS, a next-generation operating system for ground travel operators that unifies the company’s enterprise software solutions. TerraOS helps operators run and price more effectively, while the marketplaces give them direct access to demand. The result is a global travel tech company powering the entire ground travel value chain, with 270 employees in 26 countries.
The TerraOS enterprise platform combines capabilities from previously acquired platforms, including Betterez and Ratality, into a single intelligent operating system spanning ticketing, inventory management, AI-powered revenue management and demand forecasting, distribution, as well as an integrated ecommerce experience. TerraOS replaces the patchwork of disconnected tools most operators juggle today. Approximately 300 operators in more than 15 countries already run on the company’s enterprise solutions. For operators, the benefits are concrete: one robust platform to run daily operations, smarter pricing on every departure, lower technology costs, the ability to leverage the power of AI, and a direct connection to new demand through Terra Mobility’s marketplaces.
The company’s consumer marketplaces business line will continue operating under its established brands, preserving the customer recognition and market trust they have built over the years. Busbud, the company’s global marketplace, together with Buson in Brazil and Recorrido in Chile and across Latin America, today connect 100M+ travelers annually with more than 4,000 operators in over 190 countries, with a strong presence in North America, Latin America, and Europe.
The launch of Terra Mobility comes at a pivotal time for the industry, as operators navigate rising customer expectations, increasing operating costs, and intensifying competition from technology-driven alternatives. By uniting operator solutions and marketplace distribution under one organization, Terra Mobility is positioned to accelerate innovation and invest more rapidly in the tools operators need, while preserving the trusted brands, customer relationships, and regional expertise that have been instrumental to its success.
“Bus and ground travel operators have shown incredible resilience over the past decade, but the industry has changed a lot in the past 3 years. Travelers are increasingly using AI tools to research their trips and now expect seamless booking experiences, similar to booking air or ride-hailing. The bar has been raised. Our job is to put world-class technology solutions within reach of every ground travel operator in order to be able to deliver better journeys for travelers worldwide. With the evolution of our parent company brand to Terra Mobility, we are putting this idea at the center of our mission for the coming years. Following many years of continued growth, our whole team is excited about this next chapter, which is connected to our roots, while allowing us to push even further into modernizing the ground travel industry.”
Ground travel serves approximately 10 Billion passengers annually worldwide, roughly twice as much as commercial aviation, with industry sources estimating the size of the ground travel market to be approximately US $198B for ground and sea travel, including buses, rail, ferries and airport transfers.
US $40 million financing from Vista Credit Partners
Terra Mobility also announced a US $40 million credit financing from Vista Credit Partners, a strategic financing partner focused on enterprise software companies. The capital will be deployed to accelerate the TerraOS roadmap including its AI capabilities, deepen the company’s marketplace presence across its core regions, and support selective strategic acquisitions across the ground travel ecosystem.
“Terra Mobility sits at the center of a large and structurally underserved ground travel market, with a rare combination of global consumer distribution and mission-critical operator software. We are proud to support the team with flexible capital as it builds the technology backbone of this industry.”
Key executive and board appointments
Terra Mobility also announced the appointment of Mathieu Provencher as Chief Financial Officer. Mathieu brings deep experience scaling B2B software companies, having served in senior finance leadership roles at Vention, the Montreal-based manufacturing automation platform that recently raised US $110 million, and at Novisto, the sustainability reporting software company, after beginning his career at McKinsey & Company.
In addition, travel industry veteran Erik Blachford has been named Chairman of the Board after eight years of service on the company’s board of directors. Erik has previously served as President and CEO of Expedia, and sits on the board at companies including Zillow, Fora Travel and Hipcamp. Sam Shank, Co-founder and former CEO of HotelTonight — a leading hotel booking platform acquired by Airbnb in 2019, where he went on to lead Guest Experience and the Commercial Team — also joins the board of directors. Both are based in San Francisco.
